{"id":54,"date":"2022-07-28T09:22:31","date_gmt":"2022-07-28T09:22:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metric.qcri.org\/blog\/?p=54"},"modified":"2022-07-28T09:22:33","modified_gmt":"2022-07-28T09:22:33","slug":"is-more-better-impact-of-multiple-photos-on-perception-of-persona-profiles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metric.qcri.org\/blog\/2022\/07\/28\/is-more-better-impact-of-multiple-photos-on-perception-of-persona-profiles\/","title":{"rendered":"Is More Better?: Impact of Multiple Photos on Perception of Persona Profiles"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In this research, we investigate if and how more photos than a single headshot can heighten the level of information provided by persona profiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We conduct eye-tracking experiments and qualitative interviews with variations in the photos: a single headshot, a headshot and images of the persona in different contexts, and a headshot with pictures of different people representing key persona attributes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results show that more contextual photos significantly improve the information end users derive from a persona profile; however, showing images of different people creates confusion and lowers the informativeness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, we discover that choice of pictures results in various interpretations of the persona that are biased by the end users\u2019 experiences and preconceptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results imply that persona creators should consider the design power of photos when creating persona profiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salminen, J., Nielsen, L., An, J., Jung, S.G., Kwak, H., and\u00a0Jansen, B.
